Hello, and welcome to my Blog! My name is Julie Ann Froelich. I am a 20-somethings gal from Cincinnati, married and on the journey to wellness with my husband. Our goal to one day own martial arts gym and fitness center of our own that will develop into a ministry to pour into our city.
Several years ago, before I met my husband, I got a vision or “motto” for my life, and into my heart was placed a passion to be healthy: Physically, Emotionally and Spiritually. I’ve battled allergies, asthma, and skin conditions all throughout my childhood.
This was primarily due to my unhealthy relationship with food and my struggles with binge eating from a young age. With the onset of puberty, I also realized I was battling weight gain! With a small 5′ 4″ frame at the age of 15, I ballooned into a very curvy teenager. Not that curves are wrong, but along side my shy demeanor and boyishly short hair, it just began a very downward spiral of self-image and low self-esteem that would leave lasting memories.
Since then, I’ve become my own coach, pushing myself to work hard and eat healthy. Along the way I’ve learned a lot about what works for MY body… and what doesn’t.
I’ve also learned how stress, relationship problems, and spiritual needs create health issues and, YES, even weight gain.
My husband Keith has been nothing but supportive in my trials, as I also support him in his Martial Arts career as “The Militant Gentleman”. While my husband and I were dating, we broke up for over a year, and I moved 600 miles away from my home, friends, family, and all that I knew. I began a process of inner healing and spiritual growth in a ministry internship at the International House Of Prayer (IHOP-KC). During this time, all my focus and time was devoted to Bible classes, hours spent in prayer, and small group outings/fellowship and… sitting. Sitting, sitting, sitting. And then eating (3+ large meals a day). The most exercise I got was walking back and forth between classes and the prayer room!
When I returned home 6 months later, I had gained 30 lbs, and lost much of my athleticism I had in high school.
Fast-forward to 2010-2011. The Lord restored our relationship and on Sept 9, 2011, we were married. Two weeks later, we were in India for 3 1/2 weeks and I came home with a wicked parasite, destroying my gut. It has taken me years to recover, and I’m still in the process of healing my body. This blog is a journey through that process.
I am a firm believer in natural medicine and spiritual healing. I also believe in preventative “medicine”, AKA exercise and proper nutrition. I am a Certified ACE personal trainer and my hobbies include, but are not limited to: Dance, Running, and adventure sports. I was a competitive Fencer in High-School and I have over 5 years experience coaching preschool gymnastics and dance. For more information, contact me! Be Blessed. 🙂
